The importance of quiet time on your wedding day

The importance of quiet time on your wedding day.

Getting quiet time on your wedding day might be the last thing on your mind but it truly can enhance your entire experience. Wedding days are hectic with people going in and out, asking questions, trying to find misplaced items, taking care of loved ones … the list is endless. It’s important for a bride to take a step back, take a breath and incorporate some alone time on her big day.

Oftentimes, people describe their wedding days as a big blur. And it’s true! It all goes by so fast that you can’t even believe it’s over. That’s why you need to set aside time to just be still and enjoy the moment you’re in.

A great idea is to find a quiet spot – a room in the house you’re staying in, a shady spot under a tree or even just a comfy chair in a corner – and pray, read letters, find something funny to laugh at or listen to some of your favorite music. You need the time to decompress, get prepared and savor the excitement of what’s to come.

If you find yourself having a hard time getting to that quiet place, ask your maid of honor or bridesmaids for assistance. If you have a room full of distant cousins that can’t seem to scurry along, employ your friends to help usher them out so you can have a few moments of peace to yourself.

Plan your day accordingly so you can have this time just for you. Ask your bridal party and hair/makeup artists to come just a little bit later so you have some time for yourself before everyone arrives. Or after you’ve gotten into your dress, ask everyone to leave so you can take a few deep breaths and take it all in alone.

The importance of quiet time isn’t just before the ceremony either. You and your groom need it, too! After you’ve exited the ceremony, steal away from the crowd for refreshment and to simply be. There’s plenty of time to greet everyone and celebrate but for now, use these few minutes for just the two of you to enjoy this special day together.
